Director’s Note: This was a movie born out of a desire to escape the boundaries of modern existence and give in to a primal need: reconnecting with nature. More specifically, I wanted to explore the feeling of swimming out into the sea, without the intention of ever making it back. 

I’ve always had this deep desire to see the spot way far into the horizon, where the sky and the sea marry in a perfect and seamless union. Becoming one. Blending as the sun hits just the right spot, and even if just for a second, I’ll be able to fool myself that this is it. That there’s no more places to go to, because everything is sitting right where it should always have been.

To do this, I used a waterproof GoPro, as I myself swam out into Michigan Lake. 

This was a project made for an Experimental Film class at DePaul University.
