EXPERIMENTAL FILMMAKER

André Cecilio is a 23-year-old Brazilian filmmaker and writer who graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. There, he studied Film and TV with a minor in Experimental Filmmaking. As an artist, André seeks to explore feelings of anxiety, alienation, and loneliness through a non-linear and impressionistic lens. André’s work examines the relationships and disconnects between people, always intent on expressing the smallest gaps between bodies with the strongest veracity possible, be it through image, sound, and/or written word.

André’s work has screened in film festivals both in the United States and abroad. He’s also been a frequent collaborator with other creatives in the audiovisual realm, be it on set or in pre-production. Some of the most recent collaborations include working as a Creative Producer/Cinematographer with Shoplifters, a Chicago-based digital media company, as well as directing and co-writing The KO Show, an upcoming late-night/web series led by TOKON (an independently run Chicago production company).
